18-20 Hour: Offshore Overnight Tuna & Mahi Trips

Duration:

  • About 20 Hours
  • Leaves between 9-11pm (Go by time listed on website unless otherwise notified), Return around 5pm -6PM the following day

  • $380 Per Person (Sleep in common areas • Option to add bunk $15.00- Bunks are limited, so reserve early)

About:

  • The 125' Jamaica
  • The trip offshore to the offshore areas and canyons at the edge of the continental shelf!
  • The trips will be limited to only 29 passengers.
  • 55-90 Miles Offshore

More Information:

  • A limited number of sleeping bunks are available.
  • There is also plenty of room in the common area cabin to sleep.
  • We recommend you bring a sleeping bag or blanket and pillow.
  • Guest may start boarding up to 1 hour before the departure time
  • Big Jamaica has a limited snack bar: chips, sodas, water, microwavable food, and NA drinks
  • Guest can use our microwave
  • No nautical GPS/Tracking. These Devices are prohibited.
  • Rod rental NOT included

NOTE: Braided LINE is not permitted for bait fishing on Tuna Trips. If there is braided line you must have at least 200 yards of Mono Top-Shot. Braided line may be used for jigging only, as long as you are not interfering with the chunking lines. (Captains decision is final). If you want to catch live bait it is recommended to bring a light spin outfit and squid jigs.

Bait – Sardines and Butterfish (provided)

What to Bring:

  • You may bring a cooler, snacks, beverages of your choice. No Bottles, Cans only. NO hard alcohol permitted. Beer: no more than 1 six-pack per adult
  • Ice is not provided and is available at the dock and tackle shop (Tuna are kept on Ice until we return to the dock)
  • Protection from the weather (hats, sunscreen)
  • Rod & Reel rentals are available for additional charges ($25 Standard Rod, $15 Mahi Spin Rod)

Recommended Fishing Tackle:

Tuna Rods and Reels:
One stand-up type tuna rod with a Penn 6/0 or 2-speed 30 or 50 conventional reel (60 to 80-lb. test monofilament line), plus one 7-foot tuna jigging rod with Penn 4/0 or equivalent reel (60-lb test monofilament or 65 to 80-lb test braided line)

Tuna Tackle:
50, 60 and 80-lb test leader material, barrel swivels (provided), 5/0 to 8/0 chunking or circle hooks (7/0 chunking hooks provided), 6 to 8-oz hammer finish diamond jigs, 1 to 8-oz egg sinkers, 8 to 16-oz bank sinkers, rubber bands.

Mahi Rods and Reels:
One light to medium spinning rod (20-25lb test monofilament or 30-50lb braided line) for Mahi

Mahi Tackle:
1/0 - 4/0 hooks, and assorted small lures and jigs

Squid & Bait Rods and Reels:
One light spinning rod and reel for squid and bait fishing (12 to 15-lb monofilament)

Squid & Bait Tackle:
Squid jigs and sabiki-style bait catcher rigs.

Please bring cash for the Mate's Tip (not included in Fare price) and for Concessions/Ice for your cooler home, as there is no ATM on the boat or in the Basin.
